  • Worsted weight yarn in red, green, and white
  • Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook

Strawberry Hat:

Red Part:

Round 1: Using red yarn, make a magic ring, ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc here and throughout). Work 9 hdc into the ring. Join with a sl st to the top of the starting ch-2. (9 hdc)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around. Join. (18 hdc)

Round 3: Ch 2, 1 hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st repeat from * to * around. Join. (27 hdc)

Rounds 4-7: Ch 2, hdc in each st around. Join. (27 hdc)

Green Leaves:

Round 8: Attach green yarn to any hdc from the previous round. Ch 2, dc, ch 1, dc in the same st. Skip 2 sts, sl st in the next st, dc, ch 1, dc in the next st, skip 2 sts, sl st in the next st. Repeat this pattern around (9 leaves in total). Fasten off and weave in ends.

White Seeds:

Embroider small white “V” shapes randomly over the red portion to resemble strawberry seeds using the yarn needle and white yarn.

Chin Strap:

Row 1: Attach red yarn to the bottom edge of the red portion. Ch 5, turn, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (4 sc)
